Bonmont-Châlet de la Dôle hike

Distance: 21 km

Difference of altitude (uphill): 900 m

Walking time: 5h

Most of the walk is in the Bonmont woods, so not many views. Strenuous walk, steep in places, but mostly easy underfoot and moderate climb.

Start from Bonmont, follow the Chemin des Crêtes going towards the Jura.

It's hard to find the first section of the path, as it's not well marked, so you may end up walking on the road for a while, until you come across the yellow sign indicating La Dôle or Chemin des Crêtes

sign Chemin des Crêtes.

The rest of the walk is mostly well marked, up to the usual (high) Swiss standard.

The Bonmont forest

The Bonmont forest has a considerable variety of trees and flora. Trees range from quasi-Mediterranean varieties at the foot of the Jura, to hardy ones, capable of surviving at high altitudes, with the climate at the top resembling sub-Arctic conditions.
