Open Source for media professionals, EBU Geneva 1-2 October 2007 organized by EBU training
Open Source software - some with features, like Ardour, which would be remarkable at any price.
- Ardour - audio editing application for Linux and Mac OSX by 64studio
- Uses JACK, Ardour's audio connection engine - replaces a bay of jacks and patch cords found in traditional analog hardware environments
- Routes audio in near real-time
- Works inside Ardour and between apps (e.g. Audacity)
- Native, host-based processing - no special hardware required
- Can be installed with specific Debian distro or on top of an existing Linux or OS X installation (requires real time kernel and JACK)

- Audacity - audio editing application. Simple to use and install, powerful but perfectly suited for simple projects
- Blender - 3D content creation suite
- Campcaster - radio play-out system
- Campsite - CMS & Newsroom system
- Chillout - the open source DRM platform
- Cinelerra - HD and SD non-linear editor + storage. Video edting for Linux. Requires compilation and installation.
- Distribution platform for DAB/DMB/DRM
- Flumotion - streaming media server (Fluendo company specialized in delivering products and consulting services for Unix and Linux multimedia)
