The great copyright scam
Copyright needs to be protected and piracy punished, musicians have to be paid for their work. However, how can you rip-off people by the millions - legally?
- Produce music people don't want to buy
- Bribe, convince or just bully law makers to assume that everybody is a pirate and tax everybody indiscriminately every time they buy a hard disk or blank DVD
- Presto, you have billions pouring in, without any work
And you thought you had to make the effort to sell the Brooklyn bridge or the Eiffel Tower?!
The latest bright idea: charge copyright on all the Internet connections, according to the bandwidth of your connection - and, bingo, more money!
Now if, by any chance, you buy music legally or don't actually listen to any, it's tough for you - you pay for all the pirates in the world. Therefore you might as well stop paying for legal downloads and start pirating - it's your right, you are paying for it.
Question: Who gets all the money? What's the criterion? Who is checking the distribution of this windfall?
Shouldn't we do something about this massive rip-off?
What's the next chapter?
